free flooding dome.

Post by bigbadbob »

As i have a flat plate accross the front of my pressure hull i thought i might add a dome to improve hydrodynamics and protect the face plate from collisions. it would have to be free flooding as it wouldnt stand the pressure. but i'm concerned it might affect the camera picture and might get fouled on the inside and be hard to clean.
Any comments welcome.

I got the idea from once getting to sit in this- (no i didnt make broom broom noises, ha ha.) it had a free flooding protective dome outside the main one.

I might misunderstood, but sure the cleaning issue will be the worse. I know that a double dome or free flooding one should have a vacuum inside as the opticals of the cannons of naval ships to avoid that they get alges or dirt inside. A 6mm Plexiglass mounted with a flange should be the most easy soluiton and is approved by many before..

yeah, i gave up on the free flooding idea due to the cleaning problem. i tried to get a dome but couldnt get one the right size. i can cut flat disks no problem so just went with that.
