TyrantBB's Seafox style ROV

Here's my newly finished ROV...couldn't even have come close to doing this without the help of this website!



It's powered with three propeller modified 800 GPH bilge pumps, 1.9" proboat propeller on the up/down thruster, and 1.7" proboat propellers on the forward/reverse thrusters. The propellers and lights are controlled with DPDT/SPDT relays. Tether is 100 ft long: consists of 14 gauge speaker wire for the power, two cat5e cables - one for controlling the relays, one for transmitting video, and a polypropylene rope for buoyancy/strength reasons. Light is a 20W halogen. I have two cameras onboard, one is a cheap security camera for real time transmission, and the other is an unfinished jury rigged iPod housing for saving videos of dives.

There are a few things not finished...the lights aren't wired up (how can I attach these things to wires? Solder doesn't seem to stick to the stubs of the light), the iPod housing isn't finished, only about 20 feet of the tether is tied together, and I need to fix some buoyancy issues.

Looks great Tyrantbb.You have some great control over it. I'm using the same pumps on mine. They seem to work well so far. What props and adatpers are use using on them? The props I'm using are far to big.

What are you using for a tether?

Yeah...these were by far the cheapest bilge pumps I could find haha, and I don't see any problem with them yet. The props are Proboat brand, seems to be the only thing I could find at the local hobby store. For the adapter, I super glued an aluminum tube onto the bilge pump rod, and the tube was also the right size so that a threaded rod could be epoxied inside of it. From there I could just use a nut to hold on the propeller.

The tether is 14 gauge speaker wire, two cat5e cables, and a rope.
