Attaching Struts to Hulls

Post by Pilikia »

I thought for sure I'd seen every kind of PVC connector that exists. I was wrong. There's a thing called a "saddle tee" worth taking a look at. Especially if you want to fasten small diameter PVC struts or braces or appendages to larger diameter PVC hulls.

They are intended for teeing small pipes off of large ones. But a simple modification allows them to be used for structural use (no fluid passage) only. They provide a large area of contact between the larger pipe and the connector, resulting in a strong solvent-based connection.

The following photos with captions should make it clear:

Yes......these are great! I have been using the "glue and snap" ones in 3/4x3/4 and 1/2x3/4 for some time for branching new take off runs. Thanks for the link.

Just a question regarding the saddle-t's...

Does " 2" Base x 1/2" Socket (3/4" Spigot) - 3" Length " mean that the base will fit around a 2'' PVC pipe, and a 1/2'' PVC pipe will fit inside the spigot?

Sorry, I'm just not familiar with the terms. Thanks.
