Re: rov transportation
I know i'm a bit late, but I was just thinking of this problem today. since my rov wilol be too long to easily transport, I will be using my truck to hail all equipment, and one I can free up some extra cash (low budget is my middle name) to get the boat I've been talking to someone about, a 30' w/ ...

Re: buoyancy durability question
thanks, thats what I was going to use, atually. coat it with fiberglass, mount some attatchment brackets, and paint it bright yellow, it should be a solid bouyancy float. there will be two holes, one for the vertial thruster and one just part way through to secure the compas housing. but I think I w...

Re: buoyancy durability question
the absolute max would be 80 feet, and that would not by any means be the average working depth. more like 30/40 feet on average.

Re: ROSEV - The Final Design
good ideas. as someone mentioned, a hardwired tether is something that I really am not too crazy over, and so I am playing around with a airline connector coupling to wire through for an easy release/solid attatchment.

buoyancy durability question
one question: if I use a solid cell foam float pac on top of my ROV, and it's coated in a fibreglass shell, would I have to wory about pressure compression/distortion if the fibreglass is thick enough?

Re: Spoarkfun thrusters????
well, I will be using two per side (two port, 2 starboard, 2 foreward/reverse, and then either 1 or 2 vertical thrusters-more like 8 thrusters), so it should work for my purposes.

Spoarkfun thrusters????
the generic Rule-looking pumps sold at $15 on sparkfun, are they worth anything as thrusters? I was thinking, since I would like to have 6 thrusters, and the price of pumps has gone up so much lately, that I may try those at first. so, any input on these things?

Getting back into it
well, since its getting cold and I have time to work on crazy projects, i will be digging out the old ROV plans. my original design was 1.5" PVC and was 4' by 2' on top, 18" tall, and the lower part was 3' by 2', like a parallelogram with the top slanting twoards the bottom, except with th...
