Thank you for the link. That is exactly what I was looking for, and I will get a couple of these for sure. They are very well priced too, and I can dim the led's!
Just as a comparison I may set up and automated test with the step up converter and the meanwell and run them for a few weeks side by side just to see what the effect is with the different setups.
Thanks,

I dont know you've understand that the Meanwell are not a step-Up. You need to power it with min 22V. So you need the converter AND the Meanwell. With other LEDs the converter is unnecessary!

I am actually going to run 48v from my tether into the meanwell before 48v is converted to 12v for thrusters. The meanwell is a step down so it will work ok.
Thanks,

Hey Guys! I have been following this with quite a bit of interest, and I think I have a configuration setup that fits the description. I have not bought these parts yet, but wanted to throw this configuration out there... see if I've got this right:
Now that I have found a local Maker/Hacker Space with some proper tools, I have had a chance to test the LEDs with the MeanWell Drivers, and I can confirm that it works PERFECTLY! I even have the dimming circuit working via some very simple Arduino Code.
At this time, I am just running it all from a 24VDC bench top power supply. I have not tested the DC-DC transformers. That is next week!

Hi Kr2_diving,
The movie is set to private so not viewable for us. Was wondering if you thought about using a mirror, that will focus your beam and thuse increassing your amount of light in the area you need it.

Oops! All fixed! Thanks.
P.S. This sucker is so bright... that focusing it with mirrors might just create a fish death ray... hmmm... come to think of it...

Hey Ryan,
How hot do those things get? Are you gonna need a heat sink in whatever enclosure you end up using for them?

In a word... hot. Yes, the housing I am planning on building will double as a heat sink. For testing, I do have it mounted onto a piece of aluminum bar stock with blue tack. You can feel the heat come off the diodes when it is on, so I am sure it will burn quite hot when it is on.
