Re: Power Tether to ROV

I have heard of computer power supplies being used, but I have no experience with them myself.
It is fine to use car batteries while they are still being charged, I just probably wouldn't go over a 10 amp charging rate just to be safe.

Re: Kort nozzles

Interesting...

Re: Power Tether to ROV

Since ROVs generally don't run all thrusters at full power at one time but tend to do small movements, I would guess that your continual amperage draw would not exceed 30-35 amps. That being the case, you will will probably want to run 10 gauge power cable, unless you run a higher voltage and step i...

Kort nozzles

Does anyone have any experience with actual Kort nozzles? Not just a prop guard or piece of tubing surrounding your prop, but an airfoil profile, purpose built, Kort nozzle. I know that Steve Thone mentioned buying and testing one on his bilge pump motor and prop testing page and that it didn't do a...

Re: draw, thrust, and components

That is very interesting...
Does the file include the shroud as well or just the prop?
Those are some very impressive numbers he claimed and it would be interesting to see if they can be reproduced.
Keep us updated.

Re: Propeller Choice

Have you seen Steve's test data for the Robbe props?

They had pretty similar forward and reverse numbers

Re: ECJJ ROV

I still maintain that the downside to waterproofed motors is that if they do ever leak then they just sit and soak in it inside the case and you don't ever know about it until they quit working. An exposed motor actually has no depth limit and can be flushed out and oiled between dives. My 2 cents...

Re: draw, thrust, and components

what sort of profile are you going to go with on your printed nozzle? On one of the openrov posts they were talking about the efficiency of differing shapes. http://openrov.com/forum/topics/propeller-selection-choosing-a-more-efficient-propeller-nozzle And did you test the 2308.65 inside the ducted ...
