Any ideas on useing a low volage soliniod as a ballest saftey trick, i.e. If the soliniod is possative when you power up, it can be used as a trigger, therefor if you have a total power loss the soli returns to rest thus dumping ballest and a rapid rise to the suface, just a thought for anyone..

I am thinking of doing something very much like that. I haven't completed my thought process on it though and will probably include a 'broken tether' signal as well.

I had an idea once to use a RC failsafe or auto pilot type system. A lost signal results in relay tripping, activating a solenoid on a small compressed air cylinder inflating a "return to surface balloon."
