has anyone tryed stripping a multicore cat5 cable and putting it inside some silicon tube to see if it will float. i was thinking of injecting silicon about every meter to make an air pocket and see if it floats.

I used 250ft ¾ hollow braid polypropylene rope and Intech Range Bucket with 48 Balls with a double pair of cat 5. I took the jacket off the cat 5 to make it lighter.
Id give it a 7 out of 10 for performance but price point was 10 out of 10

The pockets will implode by the water pressure on deeper water. So the floating effect will decrease the deeper you go. The air pockets must be rigid.
