Hello, my name is David Walter I'm currently in Denver Colorado, but will be moving to the Pacific Northwest. Originally from England, my early years were as an aircraft mechanic in the Royal Air Force. I have always had a fascination for mechanical engineering, I also have an interest in robotics although I haven't done anything in this field. This would be a good opportunity to both learn and have fun at the same time. Since the advent of the Internet there's a wealth of available information from like-minded individuals willing to share their knowledge and experiences from around the globe.
I think my first project will be a basic ROV platform with an ability to readily accept accessories. I would like to look into various accessories such as, a mechanical arm, recorded video imagery, side scan sonar, a metal detector, and a suction hose.
My lack of electronic knowledge will be a challenge, however I have already received good information in the short time that I've been a member of this forum. I am in the process of collecting parts, and designing a frame that I hope will be adaptable.
