I was vaguely aware of ROVs before the Gulf spill. But the daily images on TV of these devices doing various chores more than a mile deep really piqued my interest. As I Googled around trying to learn more about them, I stumbled onto Steve's HomebuiltRov's site. And the idea that I could actually build and use one of these things began to captivate me. At this point I have a fairly mature design for a pretty basic first craft (cameras only, no manipulators). I have been gathering materials and refining the design (with some great input from Steve) for 2 or 3 months, and am near to beginning fabrication and assembly. I will post concept details and CAD models soon. I welcome questions, opinions and advice. I look forward to participating in a vibrant and mutually helpful Forum.
