Hi fellow Rovers !

I live near a lake that is 210 meters (700 feet) deep. I want to bring a camera all the way to the bottom,
and need some advice on how to build a housing for this.

What material to use, wall thickness etc......?

The camera is biggish,so the tube need an inner diameter at least 80 mm (3.15").

I thought of the possibility of putting a 4" pvc tube inside a 6" and fill the gap with reinforced epoxy, giving me a total wall
thickness of 35 mm (1.4"). Anyone tried something similar?

Hello kiulseth. No, but I suggested the same to someone as a means of strengthening their buoyancy tubes. What plans do you have for the ends? Please post a bit more about your design in general

Have a look at the housing in my ROV, see the pdf for details:

You could build a smaller diameter one and easily go that depth.

Rossrov, I will bring more details to the table as the project developes more.

TigerShark, you are sharing very valueable information.....your ROV looks very much like what I imagened
could be the solution for going down to 700' and maybe even deeper.
Deepest lake in Norway goes down to 1690'. Could be fun going there

I'm doing some calculations on the reinforced PVC tube idea.....more on that later. I don't have access
to metal machining equipment, so I might have to stay on that route.
