That's a great design. I have tried to use sketchup but have given up. I could never get the dimensions of my parts correct or their placements where I wanted them. You have obviously sussed it, well done, I wish I had your patience to learn how to use it. I now use freecad but also wish I could use sketchup.

Seriously, that is awesome work.
I tried it a couple of times but I just couldn't get the hang of it. I use Autocad (an old version, like from the 80s!).
Maybe I should give it another shot.
That design work is really good, looks great.
Can you generate .stl files of individual parts from that, like for 3D printing?

To be honest i am not sure a had a quick look on the help you can export 3 DWG & DXF, but i only have the free version, but i am quite sure the "pro" version has a lot more functionality.

@jonnyhas,
Nice design. I have seen several similar competition ROVs that did quite well in the functional and engineering competitions.

That looks great Jonny ! What material have you used to make the sides, PVC?

Thanks Kenl, the frames are made of polypropylene which is buoyant in water so is good for adding buoyancy.

That's pretty sweet! Nice design and very cool frame assembly.

VERY nice design work - VERY nice.
Although it's VERY clunky ( I'm an Autocad advocate ) it's quite satisfying once you get past the interface and learn to work WITH the software rather than against it. Drawing a dome is somewhat involved, but works a charm.
Could i ask How did you managed to make the props ? or did you use an existing component ?
I've started migrating some of my CAD work to sketchup....its going to take AGES.....
