ESC?

Would i need one for my motors or could i directly wire them into the board? and what if i was to use boat blowers? i saw a thread on the forum that said they worked so im willing to try them

I don't think there is a way around using an ESC (electronic speed control) unless you are going hardwired with relays.
Then your control is limited to on/off.

As far as ESC's go be sure to get the right type for your motors. Brushed and brushless motors use different ESC's.

Yes, you can make your own. It requires a fair knowledge of electronic theory, though. If you're interested, I've found a number of sites that I could give you links to.

Are you thinking brushed or brushless? Most of the stuff I've found is on brushed, as brushless ESCs are so common and thus inexspensive that there is really no point in trying to build your own unless you are going for a specialty application.
