jconduto, the acrylic dome has a flat 3/4" wide flange, holes are evenly spaced and drilled through the dome flange. The PVC pipe has holes drilled at the same spacing and threads are tapped into the hull. Between the two surfaces I used 3M 5200 marine adhesive and while it is still wet bolted the dome to the PVC hull.

I am finding the previos video "ROV Mockup" on page 6 really acting strange. Its best to view it directly on youtube .

what do you expect the run time to be with the 4 batteries?? how do you keep the batteries and esc from overheating???? I know from rc planes and helicopters that Lipo batteries and esc need air to stay cool and prevent overheating. I know nothing yet about rov's so these might be stupid questions.

Thats a good question indeed. I have bench tested the motors dry on the 4 3s 5000mah for about 40 minutes varying the speed and direction. The cells were not close to being depleted. I think the big difference is that your only using the motors intermitently at depth and not drawing high current for long periods of time like in flight. Under load the motors only draw about 12 amps on 3s I am using 35 amp ESC's and they don't even get warm. When i get more concrete data I will post it here.

Great work. I'm starting a new project and want to use a dome. I originally thought about schedule 40 but then I would need to add a lot of weight for buoyancy so using heavier sch. 80 seems to be a better choice. Where did you get the schedule 80 PVC? On the front end where the dome attaches what is the outer PVC part. Is it a flange? How did you cut the o-ring grooves? I do not have access to a lathe some hoping there is another way.

Thanks. I have been MIA from the forums and dealing with health issues for anyone that was following my progress. Should be back in the swing of things soon I hope.

Biker bones, how are you relaying your video feed? Are you running it through the same cat 5 cable that you are using as your dsc? If not, do you think it's possible? There should be enough conductors, but what about interference?

Sorry m_g been away and busy for a while. I am using 2 twisted pair shielded conductors in the same sheathed cable. Video over video Baluns to compenstate for signal loss over distance and yes its in the same cable as the DSC PPM stream. No cross talk or interference. I am working on OSD (on Screen Display now) Havent spent much time on this rig for a while got tied up in RC FPV flying and learning all the tricks that I can apply here.
