Current increases as depth increases?

Post by rovdude »

Hey, so I have my thrusters that max out at 15amps, which is a conservative rating, because I have pushed them past. They turn 15,500 rpm and have 62 mm carbon fiber props :D , and draw around 15 amps on 12v(at the surface). To contend with voltage drop, I am running them on 18V, which comes to 15V at the other end. I intend to go down to 100 ft (~44 PSI), how dramatic will the increase in current be on my motors?

what kind of thrusters do you have? is it bilgepump units?, brushless motors?, dc motors without housing?

Brushed DC motors in no housing, except a pipe that is held over the propeller, not sealed

then the pressure wont affect the motors.
