Work in Progress
Work in Progress
Here's a look at my Rov work in progress. The Rov itself is pretty much finished, just need to mount the GoPro Camera on the front for HD Recording. Also I hope to start and finish building the controller this week then do the controller wiring the following.

Re: Work in Progress
Wow that is awesome, that thing is pretty fast too.
What size bilge pumps are you using?
and I'm curious looking at the joystick configuration..... are you using my relay setup by chance?
Oh one more ? is that footage from your on board Rov camera or from a external GoPro Camera you mentioned?

Re: Work in Progress
yes steve it is your relay setup, thanks very much for that!
The bilge pumps are 1250 GPH. Also I minimized the voltage drop by using heavy 12ga. wire I had laying around for the main power. The tether really drags on the bottom even with a cord of closed cell foam running the length of it, all the shots are with seen with some "slack" in the tether. The thing wont even move in the deep. Im waiting on a bunch of floats to come in the mail to better float the tether. Hopefully get a good run at it this weekend, heading up to Lake Sunapee, NH.
The footage is from the GoPro camera. Great Camera.

Re: Work in Progress
what a great little ROV! I am also using the Otterboxes, waterproof camera for navigation, and GoPros.Zackro wrote:yes steve it is your relay setup, thanks very much for that!

Did you build the lights? Am interested in your materials/method.
Also, the GoPros are great, but your shots will look a million time better (sharper) using the flat port housings. Eye-of-mine make them, simple, but very effective

Hey guys,
I know I have been absent from this forum for almost a year now, been busy with other work, however I do have a new video now which provides an overview of the build process and design intentions of this ROV. Check it out:
