X wing ROV
Re: X wing ROV
It's in the water controls are all good directionally but needs more weight to go down for sure, so off to the hardware store for more washers.
I sprung a leek in my pool lol

Re: X wing ROV
That amount of water weights a lot, so a small splinter can be enough. Nice to see your ROV in the water.
Re: X wing ROV
Just need 4 more pounds and it'll be perfectly weighted, only took 13 lb to sink it that's a lot of washer the 2 bottom runners will be full lol
Planning a trip up to northern Michigan in a couple weeks, have a cabin rented on the lake I think that'll be the perfect place to officially lake test it.

Ok it didn't make it to the great lakes with me due to space.
I did sink it in the quarry on the property where I work, and sink is the right choice of words it sank like a stone. Guess I better lighten it up. Maybe the guy behind me will allow me to use his pool for testing.

Re: X wing ROV
I did my ballast tests in the bathtub
And to fine tune the ballast I put a screw on each top corner and added/removed large washers.

Re: X wing ROV
Mine was just a bit large for the tub I had to build a wooden frame and line it with a tarp and fill it. I thought it was dialed in but I guess I should've stopped with out adding the extra.
I'm pretty pleased that everything else went ok, couldn't see anything underwater really until it was sitting on the bottom then I could see on the camera. Might have to do with the IR and light kick back it'll be interesting to see in as pool.

If you have a 3D printer (or access to one) I just released a 3D printed version of that old Armatron Claw that Ian and myself use.jscott83 wrote:I really wanna figure out the claw

Re: X wing ROV
Monday I will sink it in the quarry, and hopefully it comes up lol
Excuse the blue tape covering the lights and camera.
I will be adding more color after the test dive.
