Re: USB extension
There's a limit to USB, i think 16 ft, before signal degredation. With ethernet over Cat-anything its 100 meters, or 328 ft. If you just need video you can run a composite video signal forever over twisted pair if you use 'video baluns'. Buy the cheapest unpowered ones you can find. This of course w...

Re: New member
Well, you could use a cheap 8-channel RC controller like a Turnigy 9X, unplug the TX unit from the back, run 2 wire DSC (direct servo control) down one of your twisted pairs to the receiver in the ROV to control the thrusters. The GoPro had live video out, composite. Use a couple of video baluns top...

Re: Control a Claw with remote control of Chasing Gladius Mi
Well, it's Bluerobotics. Thier system works differently from most. Their LED lights work like a servo. The Pixhawk outputs a PWM signal (like a servo expects) and a controller board inside the light turns it up (brighter) or down (dimmer) depending on the pulse width. Hence the PWM signal for openin...

Re: My "MINIRAY" Rov.
Could you somehow flood them with mineral oil to fill the interior void, so water can't get in to do nasty things, as there is no empty space for it to fill?

Re: A 3D printed+laminate, raspberry-brained ROV project
Bear with me...been up all night trying to install Windblows 10 on a broken laptop and then debloat it. I've noticed a trend where people with a new 3D printer try and print Everything, rather than just print things they've designed and BUY other common parts. Like a guy trying to print a waterproof...

Re: Commercially available power + ethernet cables
Delta ROV sells power/data tether. Not cheap though. Personally i just run batteries onboard. Have to swap them out occasionally, but running power down the tether is complicated and expensive. When the autopilot sends power to multiple thrusters at once, there is a voltage slump that can crash/rese...

Re: First Project
You don't want it neutral, most like to make the ROV slightly positively buoyant, so that it takes a tiny bit of constant downward thrust to maintain position. Thrusting upwards near the bottom shoves water down and stirs up fine silt, but thrusting down doesn't. You'd be surprised, but if there's a...

FYI, desiccant packs can be dried in an oven on low heat, and if you want to build your own cheaply, crystal kitty litter is the same material.

Re: My "MINIRAY" Rov.
I used 1/4" hardware cloth (Metal screen with 1/4" or 1/2" holes) over my ducted props to keep weeds and debris out.
Also keeps fingers out of the props while on the dock or the operating table.
