From what I'm seeing, the most commonly used system is the embolism system, a large syringe that with a mechanism absorbs or expels water. Water pumps give many problems.

I believe that these connectors protect against the possible splashes that can occur in a car, but I am not sure that they protect in immersion in water, I would put to others some non-conductive grease between the male connector and the female connector, any protection is little in the face of atte...
