Re: A PVC housing idea based on Formufit table caps
The first generation of the formufit underwater housings has just come out of the water, and all of them survived more than 4 months at 10 m depth. http://edwardmallon.wordpress.com/2015/08/26/field-report-2015-08-12-success-with-ds18b20-temperature-strings/ Once we had the data off them, they were ...

Re: A Simple DIY Underwater Connector System
I am happy to report that the first underwater trials of the diy underwater connectors have been a success: http://edwardmallon.wordpress.com/2015/08/26/field-report-2015-08-12-success-with-ds18b20-temperature-strings/ They survived more than 4 months at 10m depth, though I admit they were not subje...

Two ways to calibrate a compass & accelerometer
With all the motors nearby, I am sure that you ROV folks struggle with far more compass challenges than I do. But since I spent a while on the learning curve trying to figure out how to calibrate my compass & accelerometers, I put it all together in a blog post that someone here might find usefu...

Re: A PVC housing idea based on Formufit table caps
Not sure on the total pressure yet. They are about 4-5mm thick on the ends (while the older pvc end caps I was using were 6mm thick), and they have a big flat surface, so I expect there will be some flexing. Since that is also where I have the epoxied pass-throughs, this might give me some grief. Mo...

Re: A PVC housing idea based on Formufit table caps
Yes, and it looks like some folks have started selling ROV kits using their colored PVC parts:

A PVC housing idea based on Formufit table caps
I recently came up with a new underwater housing design that is very easy to construct, so I thought I would post a link here as many people on this forum use PVC in their builds. The Formufit table caps that this design uses are available in diameters between 1 to 2 inches, and if you combine this ...

Re: A Simple DIY Underwater Connector System
The thing I like about the swivel mechanism is that it applies pressure to a hard plastic lip on the other side of the cone washer, so as you tighten the nut there is no rotational force being applied to the parts forming the water tight seal. These fittings are also available in brass for the same ...

A Simple DIY Underwater Connector System
Hi everyone, I have been working on an underwater connection system for my sensor project, and thought it might be relevant to folks here: http://edwardmallon.wordpress.com/2015/01/29/a-simple-diy-underwater-connector-system/ So far these things have not been any farther than the laundry tub, but I ...
