Re: Wanna be ROV builder
Hello, I to have had that dream before. I was going to call it aquafox, however since you are knew to ROV building "I am too" you should start with a sea perch rov! there easy to build, cost $60-$80, and can support a camera.

Re: Jellyfish catching type ROV
What if you used a air dredge? It works by blowing a small amount of air into a tube and the air rising creates a vacuum and therefore, suction. It would be difficult to construct but wound be less likely to harm the jellyfish. That sound doable for single jellyfish, if the R.O.V. is in a jellyfish...

Re: Any suggestions on my ROV design?
Your design looks nice, I like the PC fans "Never would of thought of that" Anyway your R.O.V. design and thruster position look good. It looks as though it would corner well "depending on the power of the fans" Your idea on using relays is fine, however I would use three way tog...

Re: Jellyfish catching type ROV
I am still working on the schematics. I am having second thoughts about servosSilver dollar wrote:I agree that jellys are fragile, so the bilge pump is not a good thing.
Your idea with the acrylic basin and lid is the best solution. Can you test it in surface waters before you build it with the servos?

Re: Jellyfish catching type ROV
I think it could be done without a problem. If you are using a cylinder that is say 4" across then a small bilge pump attached to it (perhaps running on reduced voltage) if controlled in a series of small pulses should create a gentle enough vacuum to draw the jelly in question into the cylind...

Salutations from California in the U.S.A
Hello everyone, Aquaticfox here =^.^= I joined this forum due to my excessive research on marine life and robotics. You see I always was intrigued by life in the ocean and thanks to this website I learned how to construct an ROV to perform further research but right now I only have schematics for RO...

Re: Jellyfish catching type ROV
how about the acrylic cylinder having a small bilge pump attached to it so you can vacuum the jellyfish into the cylinder. I would go with a momentary button type of control on it so you can just give little pulses of vacuum to draw the jellyfish in before closing. why are you wanting to catch jell...

Jellyfish catching type ROV
Hello everybody, I am trying to design a jellyfish catching type ROV but need to know what manipulator or tools can be used to do this or if its possible since jellyfish are incredibly fragile. I am thinking of a acrylic cylinder type basin with a O ring seal hatch controlled by two servos which Ser...
