Re: *Coastal Search & Rescue Vehicle*Revise my thruster layo
How about a weight that shifts the center of gravity, so the whole unit tilts then either backwards and the claw up, or forward so it tilts downwards. the weight could be a heavy steel piece on a linear slider, and a threaded rod thats connected to a motor and the weight. driving the motor turns the...

Re: PS2 Control of Brushless Motor and ESC via Arduino
Two wire (or whatever its called) worked for me. Just connect the grounds between the two arduinos, then connect rx of arduino 1 to tx of arduino 2....then tx of arduino 1 to rx of arduino 2. Make sure to disconnect this circuit when uploading new code to the arduino. Then you just need to code in ...

Re: ROV project, yet to be named
futurlec has a small finished board: http://www.futurlec.com/Mini_RS422.shtml I like the look of this board! I like the price even more! :) Probably the cheapest ones I have seen yet! Thanks for the info! No problem i've not tried the board myself, but ive bought components from futurlec before, th...

Re: ROV project, yet to be named
That being said... if there are pre assembled packages that allow for full duplex, I would be open to that idea! on only 2 wires its not possible with rs485 full duplex. but with 4wires you get full duplex, at same lengths. look at circuits like MAX488 from maxim. rs485 4-wire and rs422 is more or ...

Re: Anybody tried to use EDF motor?
the openrov.com project also use EDF props. they base their system on 800kv motors.
with a high kv motor you wont get any force, and the props will barely move in the water.

Re: Tethers Tethers Tethers Tethers Tethers
the principle your thinking of is basicly the way a cable is made, but i guess i could take alot of tries to get the speed, temperature, stability etc right for it to work properly.
what do you need in the tether? what types of cable would you have in it?

Re: Thru hull wire connectors
I am not sure those would work very well. They have an IP68 rating tested to 10 Meters. It just depends on how you configuire wire connections. It appears that the seal is on the oustide jacket of the cable, which is ok if you have a connector on each end. But in my setup I have to seal the three w...

simple PPM to servo pwm decoder
there is a couple of threads regarding decoding the ppm stream from a RC transmitter or reciever. Some RC systems have a DSC(direct servo control) that is mearly the ppm stream sent via a cable to the reciever from the transmitter. but this function is not available on all RC systems. I came over th...

Re: Lipo Battery's at depths?
i was not offended or anything.. it was the "internal" terminology that made me wonder if bluefin had some special compensation system internaly in a pressure vessel. there is a big point in this discussion that havent been discussed that much; what pressure are we talking about? the syste...
