you can buy already some 6-12V car LED Lights. I bought a chinese product 12V, 18 Leds for about 30$ each (I use 4 of them) saves a lot of soldering and mounting, just plug and play..

The smallest and even cheap solution would be a fiber optic tether. I got one for just about a $ per meter. Also 2 converters were just the at 100$ maker each.. I use a 4 singlemode core in case I break one of the fibers, so I have 2 spare.. I have 10 x 12V/9A Batteries as weight and power supply in...

I might misunderstood, but sure the cleaning issue will be the worse. I know that a double dome or free flooding one should have a vacuum inside as the opticals of the cannons of naval ships to avoid that they get alges or dirt inside.
