Hey there,

This is what I found for the brushless:
http://www.wattflyer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41694

here, with an interesting solution: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ope ... ater-robot
more about it here: http://openrov.com/forum/topics/seawate ... ess-motors

So in my understanding, it seems possible to do it for use in salt water..
I keep digging

Have a great day

You can run brushless in salt water. Wash with fresh after your dive, compressed air to dry them out and then spay a non conductive lubricant on them when you store the ROV. OPEN ROV uses them on all thier builds.

Hey All!
Test results are in!
Brushless motor ran in salt water just fine!

I will post pics and details soon... but the results are pretty clear!

No fireworks! (bummer i know...)

Quick preview of results:
Current Draw
---------------
Medium: Full FWD : Full REV : MAX current
Air: 0.77 : 0.77 : 1.47
fresh h2o: 3.5 : 3.8 : 4.03
salt h2o: 3.7 : 4.05 : 4.08

Summary:
Works just fine in salt water, but there is a bit more current draw.
All tests were without prop!

Will post a more detailed thread in the THRUSTERS section later this weekend!

Hey Ryan,

Good news!! Thanks for doing that!
Now what's going to be interesting is how do those brushless motors are affected in the long time...
What have you done after the test? Flushing the engine that's all?
Have a nice day

Cheers
