ROV Submarine for Advanced Engineering

Post by j0lter »

Me and my team are creating an ROV Submarine for MIT. We need ideas and general advice while making this thing. Particularly, we need ideas for what to make this thing do besides float there in the water. We already plan on adding a camera, and we believe we will be making this thing out of pvc pipe. Any ideas for what it can do would be greatly appreciated.

The number one thing, for any remotely controlled vehicle is to be able to see and sense it's surrounding.

Ability to maneuver in tight spaces. Several motors to allow vertical and horizontal movements.

Typical inputs include:
1) camera(s)
2) depth sensor
3) pressure sensor
4) compass

Lighting is also a plus for deep dives.

Some ROV's also have pneumatic or electric grippers to pick up things.

Good luck with your build.
