Hello,
I am building my ROV, and think it would be a real hassle to pot my camera/lights. What could happen to a light/camera if their were still air pockets?? In the end, do I really need to pot?
Thanks!

Re: Potting
You know, you don't have to post all at the same time!!!
Re: Potting
Thanks
However I won't be going that deep only to 20 ft or so? Is potting necessary then?

Re: Potting
It depends
Pressure even at 20ft on a large(ish) surface area can be a lot, enough to crack a lens for example, or for the water to work its way into connector seals and all over your camera electronics.

Re: Potting
Ok
maybe two peices of plexiglas for a sheild for my camera, that wayu if one breaks, i still have the other. Also teflon tape to seal screw connections. I am just saying this becuase my camera is not one you could pot. I have to problem solve.

Re: Potting
We all have problems to solve, and there are quite a few ways to solve them, that's why it's so much fun
Your potential solutions may work .......
Other potential solutions may involve tubes, o-rings and glands
Good luck :!:
