screw cap vs rubber caps

does anyone which is better for removable ends rubber caps or plastic pvc screw caps?

Can't really answer your question with experience but as an opinion a tapered threaded plug would be my choice.

The threaded plugs work great (just use lots of pipe dope), but they're a real pain to get in and out. I haven't used the rubber end caps. Maybe somebody who has can give their $.02.

I have used them for a shallow water project and they worked very well. A lot easier to install and remove then a threaded plug.

In the link below, they are tested with pressure on the inside of the pipe. With an ROV the pressure is on the outside. The URL shows a plug type.... the pressure rating is not that high, but I would bet if you applied external pressure, the higher the pressure, the better the seal will be as the pressure is trying to push it tighter against your hull.

Let us know if you test this type of plug.
