What type of led's would be best for mounting around a camera lens?

Depends on weather you are mounting your camera outside your vehicle or not. If your light source is within the same housing as your camera camera you get glare from the inside of the housing. This is why it is common to mount lights outside your vehicle. You will get reflection with ir as well. Leds are easy to waterproof or "pot", cameras are not. Good luck

Does anyone know how far IR leds are capable of illuminating underwater? I would like the option on my ROV, but from what I read, I don't think they will light very far away. Has anyone got any experience of using IR on ROVs and what sort of scene illumination I am likely to get?

I know it's a difficult question, how long is a bit of string, but do you think we're looking at cms or metres?
