JR 6 channel XP6102 rc radio, on DSC, down 200ft of cat5 on one twisted pair. works great !

looks like a good system. is there a dsc input on the reciever? how do you interface the twisted pair to drive several servo's?

it is plug and play, the dsc cord that comes with the radio plugs into the charging line at the on/off switch of the Rx, and the dsc port on the back of the radio, I just put a male/female 3.5mm plug/jack on each end of the cat5 cable. to make a 200ft extension cord out of one twisted pair. this is just a dry mock up.

so far right now thinking 3channels with ESC, up/down, left/right, forward/reverse, 2channels for pan/tilt,camera servo's. think i will go with this ESC FR30HX Microprocessor Speed Controller, to reduce any video noise, will see. http://www.electronize.co.uk/model_elec ... frames.htm

Cheers for the info.
can you drive esc's from servo channels? or do you need to use the throttle channel?
i'm keen to follow your progress, keep us posted.

you can drive an esc from any channel. they operate the same way servos do.

how much up/down/left/right movement do you think you can get with your camera on a pan tilt?

I'm pondering the usefulness of a pan tilt on my next rov now. tilt I could see as beneficial, pan I'm still trying to figure out.

thanks!

The ESC's will plug into any Rx channel.my setup is right stick up =port and starboard thrusters forward, right stick down= port/starboard thrusters reverse. right stick to the right= port thruster forward/starboard thruster reverse. right stick to the left= port thruster reverse/starboard thruster forward. I use the left stick for thrusters up/down, and camera tilt.

I will need at least tilt to see the bottom, my ROV will run only horizontal. I think pan would be nice to hold camera on target in conjunction with thrusters in any small current.

you seem to be thinking along the same lines as me - tilt is the more useful motion.

Yes, I also would consider tilt to be more important than pan in small vehicles. I suppose it would be useful in a situations where you have a big enough vehicle that moving a camera is easier than moving the vehicle, but that would be a pretty large ROV.
