Question about esc amp rating

Post by Sky »

Hello All :)

Im looking to get some esc's for my rov but all the ones I have seen (that are cheap  ) have different ratings in forward and reverse
So im not sure if the forward and reverse amps ratings are limits or if they are also ratios as to the power which can be provided in each direction
So if I have a esc with 120amps forward and 40amps in reverse and I have a 10 amp motor do I still get full power in reverse or do I only get a third
of the power I get in forward? (Is the PWM signal limited in reverse according to the amps which can be provided?)
Any help appreciated

Thanks for looking :)

40 amps is the max the esc can handle, so your 10 amp motor is fine. there is no "ratio".
