Ideal Thrusters

Post by Unorthodox »

So the question not apparently answered and not yet asked is, what makes for a good thruster?

Most of us are using bilge pumps either as water jets or reconfigured with props. And besides the best thruster being the one you can afford, what are the real important things to consider?

Pumps and such seem to be marked in terms of GPH (or GPM in some cases) and PSI. And not being a proper naval architect I dont know if it is better to propel with higher pressure water or higher flow or both.

Presumably we would then be looking for the smallest X/Amp value where X is either GPH or PSI, whichever is the better indicator of propulsive force.

So what should we be looking for in our most efficient or most powerful thruster searches, and how do we know we found the right one?
