Have you guys considered something like this: 10W Power White LED Light Bulb 700lm 120 Degree

I used two of those on my ROV and found them to work quite well. I actually have to turn them down to avoid saturating the camera when illuminating anything close up. They're not much for range though, perhaps something with a more narrow angle would be better. When looking for 10W LEDs on ebay I see they sell for 1 buck now, prices have sunk considerably just since last year.

The LED MR 16 style bulbs from allelectronics.com seem really good, 175 lumens for .4 amps (1/4 of the draw of a halogen MR 16 means less voltage drop) for 8 dollars.

Another good option seems to be the 10mm led from electronics goldmine. If it really is 265,000mcd it converts to 100 lumens for .1 amps but this seems way to bright for that style led. I envision on of these in each corner of the frame for a seafox style rov giving 400 lumens for .4 amps.

There are many options here but these seem like the most light for the least current
I noticed that the LED you mentioned from goldmine is 3.4 v to 3.8 v... so by putting four of them on your ROV should get you close to 12 V if you tie them together. I that what you were thinking. I'm new to all this so I apologize if this seems like a simple question. I do appreciate the help greatly.

We bought 1 and 3 watt flashlights from the home discount store at a great price, and only used the LED assembly. They are a focused beam, so we may need to frost the lens to spread the beam out.
