Please tell me what I am doing wrong here?
I am running 2 mega boards using easy transfer lib to send control signals from the top side mega to the mega onboard the rov to control 6x bts7960 drivers for the bilge pumps. Likewise the mega on the rov sends back sensor data to the top side mega.
All works well with a direct tx-rx uart connection hardware serial1 portsa on both boards.
But no communication when I am using a pair of max488 chips inbetween the boards. Rather both the max488s' start heating up.
Here's how they are connected
Top side mega: top side max488 rov's max488
Rx. Pin2
Tx. Pin3
5v pin1
Gnd. Pin4
Pin8. Pin5
Pin7. Pin6
Pin5. Pin8
Pin6. Pin7
Pin1 to rov mega 5v
Pin2 to rov mega Rx
Pin3 to rov mega tx
Pin4 to rov mega gnd
There are a pair of 120 ohm resistors between pins 7 & 8 on each of the max488's
