ROV Dive to 10-20m

Post by Tom654321 »

I would like to implement an ROV vehicle which will be able to dive to 10-20m.

Can anyone share any resources about how to manufacture it?

Besides the build threads here for what people have already done... A lot is going to depend on your budget. 10-20 meters isn't too deep so you might be able to get away with PVC type housings. If you have a higher budget you might want to look at some of the Bluerobotics stuff.

Usually the biggest obstacle is going to be with the tether... and there a lot of factors involved with that such as... are you going to try and send power down it or run on board batteries? What kind of control/video setup do you plan on using?

There are some books available such as "Build Your Own Underwater Robot and Other Wet Projects" Which covers ROV's like the Seaperch and Seafox (which might be out dated these days.) but there is also the book "Underwater Robotics : Science, Design and Fabrication" but its more of an expensive read.

Honestly (again depending on your budget) you might be better off just purchasing a pre-build ROV as they are widely available these days and in the long run might end up saving you money over building one.
