Bonding acrylic?

Post by Bennachie »

Has anyone any experience with bonded acrylic hulls?
I was thinking of making my hull from clear acrylic by bonding a clear acrylic dome to a clear acrylic tube. Does anyone know if this would be fully waterproof and able to withstand any reasonable depth?

Thanks!

I can't promise anything right now but I was just thinking I have some acrylic glue somewhere and if I can find it and it's still good I might be able to test this out on a left over section of my camera tube. Give me a few days and I'll see if I can make it happen.

EDIT- I spoke too soon.... the glue I had must have total evaporated from the sealed can (go figure) because it was bone dry. I'll have to find/order some more before I can test this out. :|

Never mind.
I'm unsure whether to make a custom hull with domes bonded to tubes or just use a Blue Robotics hull

The Bluerobotics stuff does look nice... I've been thinking about going that route too for my next one.
