Here is my way to control the sjcam sj4000 full outside the case.

• - All connections are made (include USB)
  - you can use all buttons
  - can change sd-card and
  - test cam with battery (yes you can place it in when cable is outside)
  - easy to connect to ROV-Control cam-control

Connect USB is very fricky but its the only way to get it connected (no other place on pcb found - if you fail you can only access by change sd-card - its still possible)
All cable connections have to be fixed by glue.
