DROV-bubbles rov
Re: DROV-bubbles rov
I made a small mold so I can hold the wires straight and in the center of metal body
And fill the metal shells with epoxy after I put it in the oven for a few minutes to make it more runny.- Attachments

Re: DROV-bubbles rov
So after a day the epoxy is fully cured and the cable penetrator is almost ready
Four more to go.For extra protection I will wrap the molded parts with a shrink sleeve with glue.
I made a small mold from derlin so I can encapsule the potted shell with urethane resin
I mixed urethane resin and filled the mild to the top
After a day the urethane is fully cured and the first penetrator is ready. Four more to go.For extra protection I will wrap the molded parts with a shrink sleeve with glue.

WOW sorry to hear about the old hull, that thing was beautiful least you salvaged some of that hard work.
That's interesting about the water still leaking through the wires after potting them, of course when I came up with that design I never intended them to go that deep but still good see them really tested out.
Great write up on those new hull fittings, those are amazing all on their own, everything you do looks so professional.

Thank you Steve!Yes the water is leaking if you pot stranded wires.Up to 2 bars was ok,but when I push it harder you could see small drops of water coming out!Only solid wire with a good grip worked for me.sthone wrote:WOW sorry to hear about the old hull, that thing was beautiful least you salvaged some of that hard work.

I like the idea from the link below and made a few modifications

Re: DROV-bubbles rov
Yeah Doug has some really great ideas too.
My new method to use a solid piece of brass as a pass through and then solder the wires to it can be seen HERE. Of course the connections are exposed to the water so who know how it will react in saltwater and I haven't tested it out pressure wise yet but I'm thinking it should work better.

I believe this method defenately withstand high pressures.Endcap will collapse first compare to the solid connectors.sthone wrote:Yeah Doug has some really great ideas too.

UPDATE
Finally I finished all comectors and receieve all aluminium parts hard anodized . I assemble all the parts together to check if everything fits ok. I have to finish a few things before I test it at sea (empty)
