I decided to add a little something to my ROV.
I'm going to mount 2 small pointers, with the beams meeting at the point the manipulator claw touches the sea floor. That'll make it easier to position the ROV to grab items.
And it'll be cool!

I cut down the pointer tube and removed the spring and button, and just have to solder the wires on before installing in the housing,

Hope it works under water as well.

This explains why my camera stopped working. It melted. I guess I must have shorted it out during my last repair.

I finally got it back in the water, but only for a few minutes. I didn't take into account the current in that area. It was really strong. There was no way I could hold position to pick anything up off the bottom. When I tried to bring it up, it was really slow. I put down the controls and pulled it up with the tether. Once it was on the surface, i saw the electronics battery case was open. :( No idea how that happened. I think i'll add a Zip tie around it next time. On the plus side, it was nice being down at the water on a sunny morning, and it got me thinking more about designing/building another/better ROV.

Pressure could deform the box and depending on the closing mechanism it could even open up. How deep did you went with it?

20-30 feet. I think you might be right about the pressure on the case.
