I was wondering if maybe you could hook one of these up to the bottom of a main houseing and maybe have it activate an led in the cameras view... just a thought but would that work?

leak sensor
Re: leak sensor
Don't overcomplicate things dude Especially for $44 just to light up an LED.
If your using Arduino (or any Microprocessor) just cut a small length of stripboard, shove a xxohm resistor resistor in line on one track and code in a simple statement to read when a pin goes from low to high - (You'll probs need to tickle the resistance value).
Or just make a basic continuity sensor circuit for a few $$.
