The Abyss ROV mark 1

Post by terryt »

Finally got round to making my main board for inside my ROV housing, also got the basic telemetry controls up and running also, small 7" monitor fitted into a small flight case. I'm using some old CCTV kit, which allows me to easily adapt the 'up the coax' telemetry for ROV use, so my only cable on the tether going down to the ROV is a single coax, RG59 mini or standard. Onboard is a small camera, LED lamp, she's powered by an onboard 7AH gel battery. All components are 12VDC.

Just finishing off the housing and 5 thrusters, so I'll post up some pics of that soon too. The thrusters are johnston bilge motors, which are mineral oil filled. I intend sending this baby down pretty deep, 160ft.

Hope it is of interest to fellow ROV ers.
