Steve got most of us started. He has shared a lot of great information. So have all of the other members. Just look around because there is a lot of information here.
40' diving depths are certainly achievable. You can spend a fortune, or keep it simple and inexpensive. It's up to you and how fancy you want to get. $ do not equate success. A lot of people start with PVC pipe and go from there. Most of the stuff you need is off the shelf.
