Definitely interested in seeing how the X³ handles. Also the Linear actuator is waterproof or are you modifying one and how much did the X³ and actuator(s) run if you don't mind my asking?
The actuator will be sealed. Only the small metal rod from the gripper will be coming through the case for the actuator. This is the area I will have to seal, but still allow it to move back and forth. Maybe a separate small grease filled compartment.

I haven't received the X3 board yet. I will be doing beta testing for the creator when it arrives.

Here you can see the motor and light wires feeding into the main hull.

Thanks for the information.

I have a calculator to work out how much pressure a flat piece of acrylic of a certain diameter can withstand. But am unsure whether the dome would withstand higher or lower pressures than a flat disk.

Do you know how to calculate the pressure a dome of x" diameter, y" thick and z" high can withstand?

I think that domes are stronger. Though I'm no expert on the topic. But I think the depths that most of us go to, a flat disk of a decent thickness would be fine. Maybe someone else here can offer a more educated opinion though. :D

To calculate pressure use the free program (under pressure) at
http://www.deepsea.com
It will defenately help you!
What is your opinion about rov-control?
