Waterproof VEX motor?

I am planning to use a vex claw (http://www.vexrobotics.com/276-2212.html) for my ROV's manipulator but I do not know if the vex motor (http://www.vexrobotics.com/276-2181.html) can be waterproofed like other servos (as shown here: http://www.societyofrobots.com/actuator ... ervo.shtml). Because the Vex shaft is square, I do not know if it is still possible to make a o-ring seal, or any sort of seal, for the area where the shaft protrudes from the housing. Does anyone know if it is possible to waterproof a VEX motor?

If you take apart one of the newer motors (269 or 393) there is a cylindrical component similar to a shaft collar that goes between the drive gear and the plastic casing. If you remove it you might be able to fit in an o-ring in its place

People talk about all kinds of stuff like this in the vex forums. I know there was a very long discussion about building a vex helicopter so I wouldn't be surprised if someone is planning to build an entire rov out of vex parts.

Thanks, that sounds like it might work for my purposes. Plus, if the o-ring fails, marine grease should keep it waterproof.
