tether buoyancy

Hi,
I am using pvc floats from fishing store to keep my tether as netral as possible.
http://shop.kivikangas.fi/PublishedServ ... code=PVC75 (Page in finnish, 60g is amount of lift).
It seems that one buoy keeps quite a long piece (2.6 meters) of tether on surface. What is your advice: Should i cut my buoys half so i can keep them more close to one other?
I thought that if thre is long distance between buoys there will be more "curtain effect" as the tether is hanging down between buoys.
Am i right?
thanks in advance guys!
My rov is getting more complete, but need to figure out how to attatch props to bilge shafts.
