So i think ive gotten down to finding what parts i need thanks to this awesome forum!! you guys are awesome!
Im using pvc pipe for the frame (pic below) its not glued together nor have i put all the main components on but it gives me an idea of how im going to place items.
I think ill be using i basic Cat5 tether which then connects to the motors directly and plugs into a homemade controller. ill be using a camera which i hope to pan back and forth and also move up and down. the only thing im not sure about is what ill be using for thrusters. Ive seen that people have tried boat blowers, but i want to see if theres a way to water proof them. If not, ill probably be using a normal bilge pump.
list of parts:
PVC pipe (X)
Hull/bigger PVC ()
Relays (X)
LED lights ()
Cat5 cable ()
Controller box ()
Center off switches ()
ON/OFF switches ()
Ethernet in port ()
camera (X)
Camera servos (maybe...)
Floats and weights ()
Extra wires (X)
Wire connectors ()
Thrusters ()
Dome for hull ()
Any suggestions or questions are welcome! thanks for the help everyone!!

Re: First rov design
Well you are off and running.
One of the things I enjoy most about this hobby is seeing the wide range of designs/configurations that people turn out.
There are so many possible approaches that no two Rovs need be alike.
I look forward to seeing your progress.

Re: First rov design
Yep and i have already completed my control box, and now im working on wiring the rov it self. ive gotten the lights wired: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1031
working on the thrusters now. im pushing the wires through the pvc, that way they are completely water proof.
after i get it wired, the next step is to water proof it.
