Seafox ROV's featured on Gizmag.com

Post by lwhistler »

Hello Everyone

Gizmag.com as an article on the very good book "Build Your Own Underwater Robot" by Vickie Jensen and Harry Bohm. The Gizmag.com article has featured my Seafox ROV and Steve Thone's Seafox ROV.

I actually found my way to this site via that article on GizMag. Didn't know there were forums about this sort of thing. I ordered "Build Your Own Underwater Robot" and am hoping to get my first ROV project up and running soon! :D

You will like that book a lot. The instructions on the Seafox ROV are very good, but it is lacking info on long tethers - such as 50 feet or more. For my 100 foot tether I used Cat5e cable and two 12 volt car batteries in series for 24 volts, by the time the voltage got to the bilge pumps it was down to about 12 volts or so due to voltage drop and resistance in the Cat5e cable.
