Bilge pump prop match?

Post by bstoural »

I am using this, http://www.amazon.com/Johnson-America-2 ... merReviews pump, because its cheap and I will be operating in shallow non current lakes. I plan on using a prop for this ROV so I imagine I will need to use that set screw adapter I have seen others use in this group. So what I am asking is what prop should I use, and what mounting process should I use to make this an easy setup? I am in component purchase phase right now, I figure if I buy the thrusters, and camera first I will be motivated to finish it.

From what it would seem, most people use a machined prop shaft adapter, I've looked long and hard for an adapter and haven't been able to find one, this is actually what caused me to switch to brushless (I don't have, or access to a lathe). Everyone seems to have their own preference of props, but I use these http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... duct=13203

bottom line is don't exceed 5-6amps
40-45mm prop, less pitch the better on 12volts
these bilge motors are just a low wind 540 size with little torque or cooling
