Hi everyone!
So we're doing the plan for a 450meters depth diver ROV and we were wondering which kind of cable should we use. I think the max length for a cat. 5 cable is 100 meters, and I don't think it's better with cat6... We will control the ROV with a computer and the cable has to reach a Raspberry pi...
Is there someone who can help us?
Thanks

You can send control data over RS485 to over 4000'. Two twisted pairs are needed with a ground (can be shared with other devices) and the rest of your cat 5 can be used for sending video (with baluns to get the distance) or data up.

With your video are you using an IP camera? and do I need an active balun? (if such a thing exists).
