Hi All,
I served in the USN Fleet Ballistic Missile Navy (SSBN626B) a long time ago so I have always been fascinated with underwater vehicles.
I presently build, program, and test autonomous ground vehicles for nation wide competitions.
However I have run out of rover projects so I thought that I would try my hand at ROVs since I live in southern Florida where there are plenty of ponds, canals, and small lakes to be explored locally.
Regards,

Welcome aboard , it sounds like you might have some experience that might translate over to Rovs or better yet AUV's.

Hi Steve,
Yes, over on DIY Drones, where I am an Admin, there have been discussions on AUVs, but they do not seem to go anywhere after the initial posts or two. I have several older APM1.4/Oilpans that I might try experimenting with using the GPS for the initial coordinates and then the APM INS capabilities to navigate around underwater. However, at the hobby level accurate underwater navigation is hard to do at a reasonable price.
