Control ROV throught learning's emiting port

Post by TOURNEUR »

Hi everybody !

I would like control a small rov with a thin tether .

I thinking use my transmitter's training port and use ppm stream like tether to the ROv

I think in first, opening a 2.4Ghz receptor and connect directly to ppm stream input of decoder inside ,but see stream like other bus (I2C bus or RDS signal ), don't know realy ,componant are unknow in database .

So I must use a ppm decoder can decode my training port stream directly.
And see their "decoder",but not sure about their fonction.

-Quadro ppm 12 > http://www.qc-copter.de/wiki/index.php? ... roPPM12_EN ,does not rather a ppm encoder ?
cause I see in manual : 12 servo input and ppm stream output

-And this module channel wizard > https://bitbucket.org/fpvkiwi/channel-wizard/wiki/Home , I am most intererst about this module ,and
asking here if every ROV user has already used this same system like tether .

I 'd like have any view about their module and other possibility like other module can do it with other signal like rs232 or rs485 .

Actualy I tested a 4 wire cable like tether ethernet signal ,and aquire ipcam and ethernet card ,work good ,but need lot of place and eat
lot of current ,this is why I prefer use another system for my ROV project .

Thanks a lot for who want can help me ...

i've searched abit on the net after ppm decoders myself, and found these two aswell:
http://www.foxtechfpv.com/rmilec-ppmpwm ... p-403.html
home made: http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/norcimradioc ... Radio6.htm

I've made a design of my own on the last, but have not tried it yet, so i dont know if it works. if you want you can get the gerbers to order the board for yourself, i've integrated RS422 capability to have the ppm signal over long distance.
the board is made 50x50mm so you can order cheap at http://www.iteadstudio.com/

Hi fluxno!

Thanks for your reply !

I knows the precedent ppm to pwm converter using 4017 chip and tried to used it on my transmiter ,but dont work or work no good .
Cause I think my transmitter use 9 channel ,but today I 'am trying to have an emitter / receptor based on this application gived on this link (home made), cause an chapiter speak about an 4017 app emmiter .

I 'm interest on Rmilec ,but see no pdf of this part ,or notice .
But I see on a youtube link of Rmilec an easy built optic link of an emitter / receptor ,but have difficult to see notice or pdf link for this product

I'am trying to use this first link you give to me (using 4017 chip) and ,I 'am trying to customise it for more channel .

For more channels on the 4017, i think you must change the values of R3(390K) and C1(22n) to change the timing to reset the counter and connect channel 7-9 to pin 6,9 and 11.
If my calculations are correct and my understanding of the circuit is correct. the framespace(explanation of framespace http://rcarduino.blogspot.no/2012/11/ho ... tream.html http://diydrones.com/profiles/blogs/705 ... Post:38393) is around 8ms, so in your case with 9 channels, this time must be lowered quite low, probably in the area of 2ms. which you probably can get with a 100k resistor instead of the 390k. with a 500k pot you could try to adjust your value, and when you get signal on the ch9 output you have the right value.

Thanks ! Fluxno ,actually can't test this modification ;
But in 2 day can, and change their value .

I just buyed my tether cable for send video and data like helmet audio speaker cable (two monoshielded wire #22)
This week I would build this decoder and would test it .

Thanks your help !

No problem!
i've turned my focus a bit away from this way of controlling my rov project, and have taken an intresst in the openrov system.

but i'm very interessted in knowing if you get the circuit to work! please post an update here.

and to everyone thats interessted in the gerbers to my board - drop me an pm with your email adress and i'll send it.

if someone builds the circuit and confirm it works, i can post the files here in the forum. i dont want to publicly distribute something thats not tested or confirmed...

Hi Fluxno !

Actually ,I built my card with my CAO soft .

I built a pcb particular ,for some test , like :
-acquiring in/out signal for my logic analyser with sub d port ,
-powering with a LT1084 (3A capability )
-external count for test

It is few little modification ,not very important in the conception
but need to do it .

I need to built this circuit today (if I have all the time ) ,

I had never using an engine file like " gerber ",and can't gave any garanty in any compilation (need lot of setting parameter)
cause never experience in this using .

I self-built my usual pcb in my workshop, and I think the best way for everybody here is to give a mask of the pcb online (in pdf )

If anybody interest can modify in compact PCB with cms componant, and servo direct connection without my modification ,but I would like finish mine in first .

I'll give any info when finish.

OUps !

Excuse me, (the alea of my translation error !)

If I think good ,you ask me if your card work ?

I do my prototype on fly wire ,and work good ,and i think yours too.
